A SOJOURNER'S HOME: Learning and Living the Journey of Faith
SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP 9:30 a.m. Worship invites participants to experience an hour of reflection, learning and reverence. 10:30 a.m. Discussion hour builds upon the themes of worship and invites participants to engage in an hour of dialogue, discovery and shared perspectives. Worship services are relaxed, informal, and filled with much singing. The message is based upon a chosen scripture for the day. The songs, readings, and prayers enhance the themes expressed in the scripture reading. Services do not focus on one particular set of beliefs, but allow for individual interpretation and independent thought making it possible to discover personal meaning from the experience. Following worship is an engaging discussion hour for consideration of the day's themes and for sharing perspectives on how they impact daily living. Please notice! In months with five Sundays, we allow that "Jesus has left the building" and meet elsewhere on one of the Sundays of the month, either to do mission or for an educational event or to worship in another setting. The Lords Prayer
(A contemporary wording by L. Winkley) God, lover of us all, most holy one, Help us to respond to you, to create what you want for us here on earth. Give us today enough for our needs. Forgive our weak and deliberate offenses, just as we must forgive others when they hurt us. Help us to resist evil and to do what is good. For we are yours, endowed with your power to make the world whole. Amen. (A Native American interpretation) Eternal Spirit, Earth-maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver, Source of all that is and that shall be, Father and Mother of us all, Loving God, in whom is heaven; the hallowing of your name echo through the universe! The way of your justice be followed by the people of the earth! With the bread we need today, feed us. In the hurts we inflict on one another, forgive us. In the time of temptation and test, strengthen us. From trials too great to endure, spare us. From the weight of all that is evil, free us. For your reign is in the glory of the power that is love, now and forever. Amen. (A contemporary interpretation from Australia) Our perfect Parent. We honor You. May Your job get done. The earth be more like heaven. Meet our needs today. Sorry for what we’ve done wrong. Forget our selfishness and don’t hold anything against us. We’ll try to do the same for others. Give us strength when we are tempted. Keep us clean from all that can make us dirty. God bless all people, no matter what color or race. Amen. |
